About Us

Our Mission

The mission of the Tri-M Foundation is to cultivate and promote the production and presentation of regional performing and media arts, through grants and gifts to new and established arts organizations and educational institutions, and through our own salons and publications.

We focus on traditional theatre, music, dance, and motion pictures, as well as new and innovative works in new and experimental forms of media.  We are interested in the development and production of new works and individual emerging artists; bringing performance and discussion to regional communities; and the study, research, and publication of information about these art forms.  Although we recognize the important work of artists in the traditional cultural centers of the country, we also believe that vital work is developed and performed in other regions, and seek to encourage artists and audiences in those areas.

History

The Foundation was originally organized to support student performance projects at Texas State University-in San Marcos.  Since its inception, Tri-M’s scope expanded to supporting other new works by young playwrights, managing a professional theatre troupe, and producing various short and feature-length films.  Tri-M also established the Tri-M Foundation Student Undergraduate Research Fund Endowment for the Honors College at Texas State University in 2013. The Foundation is a public non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with backgrounds in performing arts administration, education, performance, and production.

Following the passing of one of our founders and President of the Board in 2015, we have widened our focus to support performance in additional regions of the U.S., and narrowed our scope to the support of existing arts organizations, rather than directly producing or managing arts projects and organizations.
